We had just finished strafing two ME-109's on an airdrome, 10 miles NE of

Chartres, when Turmoil leader, whose wing I was flying, broke up and to the

left as two ME-109's passed under us going in the opposite direction. We

turned and followed them on the deck on a course of approximately 150 degrees,

passing over the city of Chartres. We followed them for approximately 80 miles

when Turmoil leader blew a cylinder in his ship and we were forced to break off

and head home.
