The
picture on the left shows Bill Mather with Frieda
Beker at the Orphanage around Christmas, 1944. Our
reunion was planned to have a meeting between Bill
and Frieda/family. Due to unfortunate circumstance
with health problems, Bill Mather couldn't
attend. Dennis Hayman, who has been spearheading
attempts to have meetings with Frieda and other
orphans, became seriously ill at the time of the
reunion and also couldn't attend.
Unfortunately,
the meeting mission was scrubbed until another
time. However, Dennis supplied the reunion with a
Orphan photo album and scrapbook for review. |

Efforts
by Dennis, European friend Frank Gruintjes and others
continue in attempts to find a sponsor(s) for future
potential visits to our reunions by our Dongelberg
friends . In a recent communications, Mr. Gruintjes
asked if our people have/had any contacts with the
company Rabobank International. The bank has a U.S.
operation and mainly works in the agricultural area -
providing loans for agriculturists, etc. |

Oh,
I forgot!
Every year at our reunions, Al Kloess would
tell a joke or two. They were some times awful,
but he and we knew that and had fun with him. It
somehow became tradition. This year, we missed
him. I know Al was up in the Blue Skies looking
down on us. So, I prepared a joke to continue
the tradition. I couldn't find it at the time
I needed it, but since found it. A little
belated but here it is...
When everybody on earth was dead and waiting
to enter Paradise, God appeared and said, "I
want the men to make two lines. One line for the
men who were true heads of their household, and
the other line for the men who were dominated by
their women to report to St. Peter." Soon, the
women were |

gone
and there were two lines of men. The line of the
men who were dominated by their wives was 100
miles long, and in the line of men who truly
were heads of their household, there was only
one man.
God said, "You men should be ashamed of
yourselves. I created you to be the head of your
household! You have been disobedient and not
fulfilled your purpose! Of all of you only one
obeyed, Learn from him".
God turned to the one man, "How did you
manage to be the only one in this line?"
The man replied, "I don't know. My wife
told me to stand here." - Anonymous |
